Bitter End

This Harebell, Campanula rotundifolia, has been flowering since mid-summer.  Mostly the plant shed it's seed a while ago but this one brave shoot continues in bloom, persistent against all the odds.  The bitter cold and frosty weather will soon bring it to an end.

The good news is that next year it will be back, most likely better than before :-)

Jamie's birthday weekend continues in full swing.  His longest standing friend, Ruby, came around before lunch and as I type long after dark, she's still happily here.  This was the first year in 20 since I became a Dad that I have not baked a cake for either of the children. Jamie and Ruby did the honours today, deciding on Chocolate Muffins ..... Mmmm - afters!
