3 for 1

I only saw one parrot when I took the picture with the full zoom, but now I see there are actually three.

We were out by 9 am (in the rain) firstly to drop of laundry as most of our stuff was wet and it was too damp to dry it, then to have another rainforest walk, this time in Arenal Volcanic NP. The guide tried to spot birds for us and was a very good spotter, it was just that not many were about. We saw a few parrots, but the others were too small and far away for me to see. A raccoon-type critter was stalking about hoping to scavenge. The walk was above Arenal Lake, the biggest man made one in. Central America, used for hydro electric power. The views of the cone-shaped volcano were obscured by cloud. The walk wasn’t far, but took hours what with all the attempts at spotting. On the way back we stopped to see a small venomous snake.

The rain stopped. Lunch was at a place with a pretty garden, then we drove to a 65ft high waterfall, which was quite dramatic due to all the rain. We viewed it from the top then went down 500 streps to see it from the base. We had the 500 steps to climb back so at least we got some exercise.

I went out to some hot springs after dark. There were about 10 pools with the least hot at the bottom of the cascades. At the side there was a ‘cold’ one - it was warmer than our swimming pool at home. It was fun but quite dark which is a problem for me stumbling about between slippy pools. Mr C declined to spend the $US37.

We got scary news that a boat going up the flooded river we went up yesterday from our lodge got hit by a tree and 7 passengers are missing. we haven’t heard yet if they have been found alive. We had life jackets but the current was fiercecand there was a lot of debris rushing down the river.
