Nuthatches like nuts!
Here's another sign that summer is over...The birds are looking for handouts. Someone must have poured some sunflower seeds onto this stump because they were flocking around it enthusiastically. I blipped this white-breasted nuthatch and also at least one red-breasted nuthatch, which delighted me, chickadees, titmice, and one cardinal. Winter birds all!
Taking a look at my last year's blip, I can see a big contrast in the rich colors of the trees then and now. So far this year, the colors are more subdued. I guess that's because of the extremely hot, dry weather we had all summer. I wonder what winter will bring? (But I'm in no hurry to find out!)
