Port Hills

Behind me are charred trees from February's huge fire but you wouldn't know looking in this direction.

I've spent a chunk of today with a compass and map mostly making the right decisions. I had my phone on flight mode and the 3 apps I use in action. But the point was the old school map and compass. If it all goes wrong they're potentially going to be what gets me out of trouble. Technology is pointless if you don't know how to navigate without it.

Goodness it was cool in the morning. Cloudy and a strong nor'easterly blowing. At morning tea I was only just warm enough but by late morning the cloud was thinning and the heat started to penetrate.
