R.I.P. Purbeck District Council, 1974-2019

This sign appeared just a month or so ago, just to the south of the Frome River.  It bears the logos of four local councils: Corfe Castle Parish Council, Arne Parish Council, Swanage Town Council and Purbeck District Council.

Ironically, Purbeck District Council is to disappear in two years' time, to be subsumed into the future Dorset Unitary Council.  This is to comprise all of Dorset's current district councils with the exception of Christchurch, Poole and Bournemouth.  A cost-cutting exercise, of course.
