Just us

Popcorn stayed "at home" so that staff could feed her. That raised lots of confused questions and explanations from my mom. "Is this my dog?" "That's not my dog, is it?" Then, in response to my talking about LS rolling in something stinky, she launched into a long story about how she'd left the dog at home with her husband and how he--but then maybe it was her father--ate trash when he didn't have to. This, along with a lot of other interesting stuff, came up when we ran into a woman we both know from years gone by, but only I remember. The woman graciously took it all in without any puzzled looks or questions. At times like these I am reminded of how much my mother has lost.
