Sparkling Violetear

Large hummingbird - the Sparkling Violetear - in the gardens at the Hosteria Rinćon de Puembo - Quito, Ecuador. We were just there overnight - birded a bit in the gardens before breakfast  - and then headed off to visit the equator and then bird our way to our first stop (two or three days, I think) at a lodge called Sachatamia in Mindo.

I'm off to dinner shortly! Plus a meeting to discuss the birds we saw today.
