Do you ever find that some books make you do daft things?

Reading Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' in their late teens, Col, Ronnie and Shaaamie set out on their own Odyssey, their own road trip.

Shaaamie's clapped out Saab station wagon had its floor welded and was hosed down. Bottles of Newcastle Brown and scores of Cadbury's Curly Wurlys were loaded into the back.

The Bebop Jazz played on the old cassette player as the lads trundled down the road. Route 66 to Santa Monica, California? More like the A69 to Carlisle ...
