Gourd of the Week...Arrows

I have been slightly obsessed lately with tessellations, a pattern or mosaic that repeats itself.

The University of Michigan maize and blue arrows go in one direction, and the Michigan State green and white arrows go in the opposite direction.

But, (as I found out) what is wrong with trying to tessellate a gourd? The gourd is not flat, so the patterns do not fit into place. So, I had to adjust as I went higher and lower away from the middle.

It does make for some good color.
