An ornate boot
This leather boot, one of a pair, was seized from returning holiday makers by HM Customs and Excise officers at Aberdeen Airport. The boots contain prohibited snake skins.
The boots were donated to Aberdeen University's Zoology Museum to help educate the public about the trade in endangered wildlife and CITES legislation.
CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between Governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.
