Greylag

Today's the day ........................ for four geese a-grazing

I've chosen four - but in actual fact - there was a whole host of them grazing in a field next to a small lochan near Moniaive in Dumfriesshire.  The ancestor of most domestic geese, the greylag is the largest and bulkiest of the wild geese native to the UK and Europe.

A beautiful day here, with blue skies and sun - but very cold with temperatures hovering round freezing.  The first day of winter .........................
