When Fergus went Wild on Westport Beach

Apothecary7's day off.
We went to Westport beach late morning and had a long walk along towards Machrihanish. The beach was quiet so we let Fergus off his lead. Off he ran, top speed, all around the beach and up to the dunes. We walked along near the water and he kept on running about as if he had never been let loose in his life. When we got nearer a group of people we managed to get him to come back (or maybe we caught him up) and popped him on his lead until we were past the people. He gets little pieces of meaty strips as treats when he comes back.
Back off his lead, and off he went. Further and further ahead. Right up to the top of the dunes (that's pretty high!) and over the top. We waited where we were and after what seemed like along time (and wasn't) he reappeared and ran back down the steep sandy dune face to the beach ... and ran away further ahead until he almost disappeared. We kept walking and eventually he came back towards us. On went the lead, more treats, and we walked on until we reached the place we usually turn round to go back along the beach.
I thought a few hundred yards later on the way back he might be calmer and not go so far. Off came the lead. Off he went. Just as fast, not quite so far. Bit of a relief. At least we had a lot of empty beach to experiment with, and Fergus had a lot of fun and a lot of exercise. We finished the walk back to the car park with him on his lead.
Later Apothecary7 was in her studio printing.
There was music, but I have no idea what it was.
I was watching Wales versus South Africa, rugby union, on the telly.
Apothecary7's Boots Christmas night out tonight. Fergus and I will watch a DVD.
Well I will, Fergus will probably sleep.
