Cute cops

We're in Latacunga now and today the police had a kind of parade with cops in shorts, cops in dress uniforms, a dignitary or two, a crowd of schoolchildren, the Queen of the Police and the Queen of Latacunga. And the police band.
It went: band played; speech; band played; another speech; a bit of drill; photos with children and queens and then they all ran around the block (dress uniforms and girlies excepted) while the band played running around the block music.
I gathered from one of the journalists present that the idea was to promote a children's athletic programme sponsored by the police. Everybody had a nice time except for the inevitable ice cream vendors, who didn't do as well as they might have hoped on account of it being a bit cold for that sort of thing. A bit cold for standing about in shorts too.
