St Botolph's Church, Cambridge

After my "off the beaten track" visit to Cambridge last week Jack and I decided to take another trip where we avoided the usual shops and commercial rat runs.

This old church in one of the side alleys in the centre of Cambridge is dedicated to Saint Botolph, a 7th century abbot of East Anglia. There is a memorial to Charles Darwin by the vestry door as his family were parishioners of the church. This building , replacing earlier churches, was built in 1350. Over the centuries there have been additions but it fits perfectly in this little alleyway, as if it has always been there for ever.
