Great Grandfather Palamountain

Not my great grandfather, but Jill's.

He was the mayor of Mount Gambia, 1913-15.

Jill's father died some 30 years ago, and she remembered him talking fondly of his grandparents, so we went to the mayoral chambers attached to the Sir Robert Helpman theatre, next door to the Council Chambers.

A nice lady who works for the current mayor gave us a little tour and was very knowledgable about the history of the mayors and the council.

We then continued on through the last leg of our Great Ocean Road trip, calling in at Penola to have a look at some early settlers houses that are preserved by the National Trust.

We stopped again at the silos with murals in Coonalpyn and then again to admire the Murray river in Tailem Bend.

Last stop was at the boarding kennels where Mia had been on holiday whilst we were away. She seemed unbothered by the stay, and got right back into her stride of barking at the kangaroos as soon as we got back. She also enjoys playing fetch with her rubber ring, but hates the water, so won't fetch it if it lands in the pool!
