Natchez Trace

The Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444-mile drive through exceptional scenery and 10,000 years of North American history. Used by American Indians, "Kaintucks," settlers, and future presidents, the Old Trace played an important role in American history. Today, visitors can enjoy not only a scenic drive but also hiking, biking, horseback riding, and camping. (from National Park Service website)

While we often try to catch a piece of the Trace while driving to and from Louisiana, we have never before drove as large part of the way on it as we did today. It extended our drive by about 30 minutes, but added an immense amount of pleasure. We had a picnic by the lake, and passed miles and miles of really gorgeous things of all sorts: trees, hay bales, creatures with paws, hoofs, and wings, and flowers of all colors. A hands down winner; the drive was more much more relaxing than it was tedious, long, and stressful!
