Welcome to the Rockies!

This was the view just outside our hostel, Lake Louise HI.

We started the morning at 4am in Vancouver and caught a flight to Calgary, changing our watches to Mountain Time! The landscape around Calgary is incredibly flat but the Rockies are visible in the distance, looming large on the horizon. We drove to Banff, had an amazing pizza at The Bear Street Tavern, on Bear Street and then had a trip to Banff Upper Hot Springs! Relaxing in the hot water and looking out at the mountains was brilliant. We drove to Lake Louise and managed what never ever happens, we got a free upgrade in the hostel. We went from a 6 bed dorm room to a 2 double beds family room, brilliant!
