Saskatchewan River, Banff National Park
Our wilderness hostel last night was fantastic. We arrived the same night as a group of Venture Scouts from Red Deer who promptly cooked up a storm of a Thanksgiving Dinner and even did our washing up! Sitting around the campfire with them in the evening was quite funny, they were full of questions like 'What's it like to be actually ruled by the Queen'?
Today we woke up to another bright blue sky morning and chose to walk a 20km round trip to Glacier Lake which took us through grizzly bear territory. Armed with our bear bells and our it-might-take-us-30-mins-to-deploy bear bangers, we started off hesitantly walking but our confidence steadily grew. There were no bear sightings and we made it to the absolutely silent lake safely, and all the way home to the hostel.
