Carbuncle

I have been working today but I came home via the park to take a photograph of the 'carbuncle'.  Bramall Hall dates back to the 14th century but like many such halls it has been extended and rebuilt many times.  We are not sure when the 'carbuncle', as a friend of mine calls it, was added to the terrace but it must be fairly modern compared to the rest of the hall.  It is rather 'out of place', but I suspect we are stuck with it for some time yet.

The photo was taken to make a Christmas card - for the friend who calls it the 'carbuncle'.  Well there is a Christmas tree in the photo - the carbuncle just got in the way ;-)
