Tiny Tuesday: Crab Apples
The ornamental crab apples in the front garden have put on a wonderful show this autumn, as you can see. Inevitably this shot has been taken with flash, but even so you do get a good impression of the sheer amount of fruit on the little tree. I imagine that at some stage during the Winter months, something will be hungry enough to want to eat them ...
In the back garden it seems that the magpies and jackdaws have figured out how to get food from one of the feeders intended for their smaller brethren. It involves flying in and landing on the feeder, which they immediately start to fall off, so they flap their wings to try to stay in place for just long enough to grab a beak full of seed. Clever birds. Needless to say, the magpies and jackdaws seem to disagree over who should be entitled to visit the feeder ... I shall have to try to get a shot of some of this behaviour at some stage if it continues.
