Longmen Grottoes

Today I visited the World Heritage listed Longmen Grottoes. I was amazing. There are over 100,000 individual statues carved into the the cliffs at the side of the Yi River in over 1,400 caves. Some of the caves are only a meter deep though.

This picture is of the main attraction. The Buddha figure on the left is 17.14m high. You can get an idea of the scale from the people standing there.

It's a HDR shot taken from across the river (about 150m) with the long lens so I was proud of the way it came out.

I backblipped for yesterday if you are interested.
