Christmas Tree Festival
This coming weekend is the 11th annual three-day Christmas Tree Festival at St Peter's Church, Stoke Fleming. Each village group contributes and decorates a tree and then the event is open to the public to view the differently themed trees.
There's an added competition where an odd object is hung on each tree and visitors are invited to discover what the oddment is on each respective tree. Last year our oddment was rather too well hidden and few identified our large safety pin! This year - with our chosen theme "Christmas in the Treetops" - the oddment is far more obvious. Shan't say what it is just in the unlikely event that any blippers might attend.
Half the visitors' donations to the event go to a local charity and half to the church. It really is a lovely occasion, and when we left after our two-hour stint decorating our Table Tennis Club tree, other trees were already beginning to looking wonderful. Glad we'll be around this weekend to enjoy a visit to the whole festival.
