Island in the stream
Today's the day ............................ to dip
A cold and breezy day - with not a lot of light about to be taking pictures of anything really.
It was the white bib of this dipper that caught my eye as I walked along the riverside path of the Kent through town. Dippers feed under the water on aquatic invertebrates such as mayfly nymphs and caddisfly larvae and small fish such as minnows. I stood watching him as he used the big block of limestone in the middle of the stream as a diving board.
The water must have been freezing cold - but I suppose he's used to that ....................
