The Magic of Christmas

We woke up to snow this morning and it was falling quite heavily by the time we went to The Hayloft, which is the farm that had the pumpkin patch that we went to in October.

Santa was visiting there today, so Rachel had booked tickets for us all, and we decided to go early and have breakfast in the cafe. The country lane leading to the farm was white, and it felt very Christmassy particularly as they were selling Christmas trees that were covered in snow.

As we were walking to the cafe, who should we bump into but Father Christmas who’d popped in to get a hot chocolate! He was lovely, and definitely the real one apart from the fact that he had a Scouse accent , and took the time to speak to Scarlett.

After breakfast we went to see him in the barn. We were met by two of his elves and after putting together a bag of reindeer food, writing a letter to Santa and throwing a penny into the well and making a wish, we finally got to see him. As you can see, Scarlett was totally in awe of him, but Violet wasn’t so sure!

This afternoon Scarlett came with Alan and I into St Helens as we had a few things to pick up, including two sledges! Everywhere had almost sold out in readiness of the snow that’s forecast for tomorrow, but Rach had managed to reserve two in Argos.

We’ve just been out for dinner as a family to the Indian restaurant Bombay 8, but Alan and I decided to head back to Brighton after we’d eaten as there’s a severe weather warning in place for tomorrow. There’s a lot of snow forecast for the early hours tomorrow with the Midlands being hit quite badly, which may mean the motorway is closed, and it’s already snowing quite heavily so I think we’ve made the right decision.
