Diary of an Edinburgher

Bingeing

A party upstairs again last night. But with my new ear plugs in, and the high pitched whine of tinitus ringing in my ears, I didn’t hear a thing. Which was terrific, as apparently they were pretty bad, in and out and yahooing. Why are people so inconsiderate?

Elizabeth took Archie out for the day, and what a gorgeous day it was, though I only nipped out a couple of times and it was freezing! I swept and washed the path, forgetting what happens to water in freezing temperatures. Yes, the water on the footpath became a death trap! But fortunately, when Anne came to visit this evening, she pointed this out, and I rushed out with salt to remedy the hazard. Phew!

I put on a Christmas music radio station to get in the mood, but I just get annoyed when it’s jazzed-up versions. I just like the original Bing Crosby ones. We managed to do a bit of wrapping and card writing. I also did a wee whizz on the bike in the afternoon, but I really wasn’t in the mood. I need to be watching 'Homes Under the Hammer' at the same time.

Anne came round to have tea while binge watching The Crown on Netflix. We managed four episodes. Six more to fit in before she goes home to USA for Christmas. It's a marvellous production. I bet the Queen watches it.

Here's Archie sitting by the fire when he came back from his walk, clean but slightly dishevelled. Perhaps he should have had his coat on today.

We did miss our little friend Rufus though...
