Buttermere village
This view is taken from the steep stony track which leads from Buttermere lake to Bleaberry Tarn. On another clear, crisp day it gave a wonderful vista over the fells above the village to the north with cloud on the highest summits. I love the contrast of the snow and dark rock set against the bronze of the bracken and velvet green of the fields.
The track channels a small stream downhill for much of its course. At the moment it is frozen solid, and quite treacherous. But slow progress is possible by taking bi-passes through the heather and snow to the side of the track.
