On High

Sadly the weather won the day today and the grotto at Speke was abandoned. The team have contacted all the families an arranged alternative dates. So I will use the last of the Cathedral blips. The main shot shows the organist up in the gods. Above him you will see many of the 10,286 pipes. For many years the highest number of pipes in the world, now sadly relegated to second place by our friends across the Atlantic. Below the organ pit you can see one of the fabulous works of art. This one shows The Good Samaritan.
Extras show the mobile organ consul, this enables the organists to play closer to the congregation by simply flicking a switch. Second extra shows the memorial to Bishop David Sheppard, a fabulous man, who worked hand in hand with Archbishop Derek Worlock to make the city a better place. The memorial also commemorates the fact the Bishop Sheppard played cricket for England (showing the 4 and 6 boundaries). Weather permitting its back into the Cathedral tomorrow. Stay safe one and all.
