Shelling out

So, I was going to bake some muffins yesterday, but in a pastiche of Old Mother Hubbard, the cupboard was bare. Or to be more specific, we had no eggs. No eggs!!! I had a stern word with the hens, and gave them a further 24hours to improve their performance. But it was to no avail. No more eggs have been laid since then (I know, autumn, damp, colder, shorter days etc etc).

So today I had to buy (buy!!!) half a dozen eggs. It was painful, but the chocolate and cheese muffins are worth it!
