Actually it wasn't all that cold.
For once the forecast was spot on, both amount and timing of the white stuff were correct as was the second shower around midday.
We had booked a Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday and there was a slight concern about going, but as we have an old and battered Subaru 4x4, I'd decided that anything less than eight inches wasn't going to stop us, but would it stop the chef? Fortunately not.
