Advent Calendar - Day 8

They appeared at the beginning of December. At first, they said nothing, letting the undeniable fact of their existence speak for them. When they finally spoke, they sang and their voices were like trumpets. No-one could understand their messages. After a week of beautiful but incomprehensible song, the visitors left as suddenly as they had arrived.

An advent calendar behind whose first door lies a single grain of rice. The second door opens to reveal two grains of rice. The third, four. The calendar is rather large.
