Drat

There's some action in this MM entry - though not precisely adventure. While I was in Ecuador apparently the people who live here along the dirt road where we take our regular walk - who purchased the property from some friends of ours less than a year ago - decided to clear a huge area at the road end of their driveway. They took down dozens of lovely old oak trees. The Husband was very upset by it. Why, he asks, do you buy a place in the woods and then cut the woods down??? 

Today these guys were cutting the downed trees into manageable lengths and loading them on a truck - presumably the landowners are selling the timber. It looked like it would be several truckloads.

So sad.

I'll be interested to see what they plan do do with the cleared area... They seem, so far, to be leaving a small portion of woods that screens the house from the road. Maybe they're making a pasture and having a horse? Time will tell.
