Tropical Vacation...

...in our own backyard. Actually, just a few miles south of us at Rio del Mar--a wide open beach that we had to share with a few seagulls. It's true, there were a few other people and some dogs, but miles of low tide and a gorgeous day. You can just kinda sorta see the smoke from the LA fires at the horizon--it's more visible in the mornings and evenings, but there is a pinkish greyish haze in the distance. We bought really good sandwiches at Pixie Deli and ate them on the beach, walked a couple miles in the sunshine, were mesmerized by the rhythm of the waves and generally had a week's vacation in a couple hours.
