perspective

This is the rusty dome of our local Glass House in the Botanical gardens (of which I have recently blipped). As I was looking at it, I was aware of the craftmanship, the stark beauty and the concave nature of the structure. I went inside and suddenly it was a convex dome. What? How can the same dome be both concave and convex? The answer is simple. it depends on where you are standing - outside looking at the exterior or inside looking up. One dome and two distinct, arguably contradictory perspectives yet both are true - depending on your (physical) point of view. So too in this place I call home. How we see and interpret something, someone, depends on our particular position, our point of view. It is possible to see the view of "the other" but this involves seeing things from another perspective, their position! That's not an easy thing and the perspective might be challenging. It is, however, rewarding in that, just sometimes, your own perspective might be challenged!
