Sheltering in Place

Dear Diary,

When I was a teacher we did frequent disaster drills and learned the phrase, "shelter in place".  That's how I felt yesterday at the height of the storm.  My sweet Mourning doves were doing the same thing in Auntie's tree.  I just love the feather detail here, sprinkled with snow.

It seems every year I do one photograph of a Mourning dove on Auntie's tree in a snow storm.  The strange thing is, they only gather there during snow storms.  I tried to keep the seeds coming for them.

I stayed up late, well late for me, to watch the Alabama returns come in and Doug Jones' victory over the despicable Roy Moore was a tonic for my spirit.  I feel a renewed hope that America might just survive this horrible chapter in its history.

I have to thank you all for your kind comments to Emerson on his post yesterday.  I read them all to him and he is walking around this morning tail erect and quite full of himself.  There will be no living with him now!
