A visit to the museum
On a truly miserable and wet day, we visited the Dorman Memorial Museum whilst in Middlesbrough.
It is a rather grand red brick building which sits at the edge of Albert Park.
Of particular interest was their collection of colourful Linthorpe pottery.
Linthorpe village near Middlesbrough was home to one of the most innovative and interesting potteries of the Victorian era.
Today Linthorpe pottery is highly collectable. Today's first extra is of a display of some splendid tiles from Linthorpe, and the second extra shows some of the museum's large collection. I'm sure my parents had some pottery like that, but who knows what happened to it!
Also, the museum has an excellent little tea room too with rather good tea and cakes.
