Big stack....
....of giant bronze books; one of two bronze stacks that flank the West entrance to a park in uptown Charlotte, known as “The Green”.
We landed in Charlotte half an hour ahead of schedule this morning (had a strong tail wind); grabbed a cab to the hotel (driven by the worlds’ worst cab driver), & in spite of arriving really early at the Hilton (9:15), their service was superb! They checked us into a lovely room right away, where we dropped our bags and took off to look for somewhere to eat breakfast. Found a 1950’s style diner with good food where we refueled, then walked all over for about 3 1/2 hours. We got to see so much of the uptown section of this beautiful city—-a couple of the parks, multiple sculptures, a Christmas Market, the Bank of America Stadium where the Packers play on Sunday, the Settler’s Cemetery with graves dating from the late 1700’s, etc., & later we took a tour of the historical areas. As we got on the van for the tour, there were 4 other people inside already........from Wisconsin......two of them wearing Packer gear.........having flown in this morning.......going to the game on Sunday. Needless to say it was a fun tour! Got back to the hotel and met up with fellow blipper MaryElizR & the three of us are going to Asheville tomorrow to tour Biltmore Estate! Can’t wait! :)))
