a lifetime burning

Its been a busy day, what with one thing and another.  The main excitement being the arrival of my nephew Will on his way back to the USA from Swansea University for Christmas.  He'd had a very early start this morning (not easy for a Student) and had already made a stop to visit his elderly Grandmother, so he was quite tired by the time he got to us.  Not standing on ceremony we packed him off to snooze for a couple of hours when he arrived, which recharged his batteries.  So while I cooked dinner this evening, Will and Cathy decorated the tree.  As you can see they've made a fine job of it.

All this had to be done in good time this evening as Cathy would allow nothing to interrupt the Strictly Come Dancing final that started at 6:30pm. I decided to cook pizza in the end, so that we could sit and eat it on trays in the lounge in front of the TV, something we never normally do.

I've had a go at making pizza from scratch today.  It turned out to be surprisingly easy, although my pizzas were not the perfect circles that I would have liked them to be.  I'm not really sure what shape they were, but suspect that the mathematical formula required to describe that shape would be complex and convoluted :-)

In other news or very reliable (albeit elderly) drier has decided to start playing up, the week before Christmas, when we have family coming to stay.  Fingers crossed that we can get someone to sort it out before the New Year ....
