Star Trail
Concert day with Tring Choral Society where we were performing Bach's Christmas Oratorio. This involves rehearsal in the afternoon with soloists and orchestra, followed by the performance in the evening. It is hard work and mentally draining. After the rehearsal I spent a few minutes with the Lensbaby in Tring Church attempting something interesting from a fairly unexciting Christmas tree.
Overall it went well, but there were a couple of strange incidents. One where we had a difficult chord to pitch for a chorale after the previous solo had ended in a very different key - we had been well drilled and could do it BUT something weird happened - many said it was a mobile phone rang in the audience which threw the pitching - we started the chorale in the wrong key! Within a few bars we were back where we needed to be, but for those few bars it was weird; another incident where the trumpeter (brilliant player) was playing the right notes but in the wrong place. An extra of the trumpet when the player was literally warming it up over a heater.
By the end our audience was happy and we all enjoyed a well earned drink in a local pub.
