Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy

Disclaimer: I had permission to take this photo from our visiting pathologist.
This is not a cadaveric human heart. This is from a 16 year old elephant from the Dallas zoo who contracted viral myocarditis (not Takotsubo CM aka broken heart syndrome).

Pretty surprising to see this lying on the table when we arrived to our path lab session.

Very, very cool to see how large the valves were, how thick the ventricles were. I felt like a tiny human being.
