Not many people know that Raymond Chandler’s classic film noir ‘The Big Sleep’ had a typo in the original draft.  

It was only when the casting director had failed to successfully cast a large woolly ruminant in the title role that the error came to light.

This is one of the hopefuls for the role who, in my view, went a bit over the top with the eye patch.

Chandler later apologised saying “sorry, it’s me - it’s not ewe”.
