The big hole in the ground

In town today to do some Christmas shopping... I thought it was about time. The place was going like a fair and lots of the George Street sales have already started. Not sure why all those other shoppers were not at work, they quite spoiled my retirees bonus of shopping during the week rather than the than at the weekend lol!
Looks like all the clearing work is finished in the new St James site. The concrete pilings to the right are enormous, but I bet the residents are pleased they are there. It's amazing how quickly the urban landscape can change.
All the red and white barriers look very festive, a bit like candy canes!
