MonoMonday: Film Themes - Crime!

Today’s MonoMonday Film theme, set for us by si_b, is “Crime / Detective / Thriller ( Horror ? ). I settled for “Crime”.
 
This is a game called “Whodunnit?”, which has been a favourite in our family for over 15 years. It’s a crime-solving game, similar to the well-known and popular game “Cluedo”. However it’s ideal for travelling as all you need is the set of 55 cards, some note sheets and some pencils – you don’t need a board or model weapons and characters. Although you don’t have to move around a board as in Cluedo, it’s actually more elaborate than that as you have to identify aspects of a murder in 5 categories, not just 3 – the victim, suspect, motives, weapons and scene, with 11 options in each. There are cards for each option in each category (I've just shown 7 example cards): at the start one from each category is chosen “blind” and hidden, then the other cards are shuffled and dealt out to the players. Play then moves round the players, each in turn being entitled to challenge one of the other players (they choose who) for any two of the cards (eg a suspect and a weapon). If that player has one or both of these cards, they must secretly show one of them to the questioner without the others seeing it. Gradually by noting which cards have been seen and who has been able to show a card to another player, you work out all 5 answers. The first to do so calls out “Whodunwot!”, telling the other players their answers. They check the hidden cards and if they’re right, they’ve won. If not they drop out of the game and hide the cards again, and the game continues.
 
I’ve shown some of the cards here, and the little spreadsheet each player has to make their notes. Some of the names are really funny – they’re all listed on the spreadsheet but may be too small to read on the photo (they're just visible viewed "large" on my big screen). In addition to those shown, the characters include Parson Snows, Major Bumsaw, Claire Voyant, Betty Crumpet the Maid and Postman Pratt.
