Tell us what you think!
The house my mother lived in before she went into the care home has been sold with completion date tomorrow. Fortunately, when my father died about 14 years ago, the house was put into the names of my brother and me with our mother as life tenant. The benefit of this was that mum didn't own the house and so it could not go into the pot for contributions towards her care home.
The bad side is, brother and I have to pay capital gains tax! GOV.UK have a very helpful website so we can calculate how much we will have to pay.
It is a depressing amount so I'm not sure that GOV.UK would actually want to know what I think!
As my brother said, 'Where's Guy Fawkes when you need him?'
