....for remembrance

I've forgotten, or not known about in time, a couple of important days this week. I was reminded of World Mental Health Day by Digitaldaze and of yesterday's International Day of the Girl by Ceridwen as well as by a younger relative of mine on Facebook. These two days highlight issues that we should think about all the time, but annual reminders are no bad thing. When, as Ceridwen says in her journal, a young girl is critically ill in Pakistan after being shot because she campaigned for rights for girls, and here in France ten men have been acquitted and four more given ridiculously short sentences after being accused of gang-raping young girls (see here), we need to be reminded how much progress still needs to be made before all young women can fulfill their potential as our own daughters are lucky enough to do.
