My lens arrived today (now that WAS fast). Went out with it this morning for a test drive! The bokeh can be a bit ugly (as I'd read) but it's nonetheless very impressive for the price. Just look at this sharpness, and this is an extensive crop! Happy days.

The shutter clacks as loudly as my 55-200 which is a downside, but the AF (the main thing I wanted it for) is very quiet and fast (fast enough for me anyway). The results indoors can be very impressive, and I suspect that's mainly what I'll use it for. The MF/AF override is awesome, didn't realise it had that. No button needed, just turn the ring!
