The second half of life..

By twigs

Mrs B

Whew!  Despite the network news reporting a mere 24 degrees for today, the thermometer outside my back door recorded a tad under 30 degrees.  It was hot!  And silly me got stuck into some gardening which was pretty tough going.

The plants were wilting big time so I gave them a bit of a drink.  Doing this always seems to bring the birds out - I guess the bugs come to the surface more when it's wet so birds see an easier meal.  At one point I had 3 different birds scuffling around under various trees and bushes around the garden...........so gorgeous to watch.

Mrs Blackbird here was putting in an enormous effort for wee Bubsy and leaves, twigs and other detritus was being flung all around.  I think she managed to feed the wee one......hope he appreciated the effort she'd gone to in the heat to get it all for him.

Had a bit of a bummer-time this afternoon when my plans for a purchase didn't turn out as well as it should have. Very disappointed with what I feel is a case of - somewhat - misleading advertising.  Will have to wait until after Christmas to sort it all out but in the meantime, my garden now has a gap that I had hoped would be filled for Christmas.  Not the end of the world though, just a tad frustrating.

J came round for a BBQ tea this evening which was nice.  Lovely to have the time to relax and socialise a bit more :)
