Bienvenue à Riquewihr

We were up early, had breakfast at 7.30am and I was in the Carrefour at Cite Europe at 9am when it opened. I was successful in getting the Guinea Fowl for our Christmas dinner and then we were on the road by 9.30am.

The Autoroute in France is great as a lot of the major roads are toll roads so they’re quieter, and we had a great journey. We stopped for lunch and to let the boys stretch their legs about 1pm, were back on our way by 2pm and we arrived in Riquewihr at 5pm.

Our apartment is lovely, and we have a big Christmas tree, so all the presents are now under it. We’ve unpacked, had dinner in the apartment and Alan and I have just been out for a walk with the boys.

This photo shows the restaurant Le Tire Bouchon which is the blue building, and the orange building is a ours. There’s a hat shop on the ground floor, our apartment is on the second floor, and there’s a wine cellar underneath the building, perfect! Riquewihr is a medieval town and apparently our building dates back to the late 1600’s.

It’s nice to be back here and we can’t wait to visit the Christmas market tomorrow! Now I’m going to have a soak in the bath with a glass of Bandol rosé - Santé!
