Postcard from Guildford
(I was going to be cheeky and add this to cauliFlower Friday!)
Nice to have a "local" day today; we hit the shops mainly on the High Street and enjoyed browsing all the new things out there. Great stuff! The market was on, and I was completely fascinated by the quality and price! SO reasonable here compared to Dubai! G got a whole crate of Peruvian mangoes for just £3 and we had lunch at my favourite burger van.
G wanted a book for a friend, so we went to the Cathedral bookshop. Not a big choice there in books but she found something. I was so pleased we poked our heads into the Cathedral as the organist was having a practice. They have a display of angels, made by children of various local schools.
We got back to the Lodge in time for a cup of tea before venturing out again, this time for Carols on the Green on Wonersh Cricket Ground. They even had musical accompaniment courtesy of Godalming Brass Band who were placed in the Grandstand. An excellent hour spent singing and listening to some readings and we were treated to mince pies and piping hot mulled wine at the end! And to top it all, the weather was just perfect! Dry and mild. What more could one ask for?
