Six

“Is it still my birthday,” was the constant question during the day. She was six today and we loved sharing the day with her and her sisters.

Presents were opened and then we all went out for lunch. Grandad then went with the two older girls and their mum to see ‘Star Wars’, which they all enjoyed a lot. Meanwhile, the birthday girl and I returned to the house and spent the afternoon painting, learning to use the ‘proper’ watercolours (in tubes) that I had bought for her. Amazing to watch a six year old happily mixing colours on a palette and trying them out. We read books, played games and chatted. She’s a joy to be with.

The other present, a scooter, will be tried out tomorrow.
