The sea

The sea from Duino in Northern Italy.

Looking south from the castle walls, this is the sight that greeted us. And below in the tunnels beneath the castle, we learned the town had been liberated at the end of the war by NZ troops. Interesting that 'NZ' only featured in the English version of the story - for Italians and Germans, the story merely told of liberation by the allies. We think we are special, but not so much!
